Cinda Firestone Fox Musicals And Plays
Cinda Firestone Fox has led an illustrious career as writer, director, producer, and editor of documentary films as well as screenplays and musicals. Her early producing career was really kick started when, at just 23, she wrote the critically acclaimed Attica which was a harsh but realistic documentary based on the Attica, N.Y prison take over and the subsequent killing of over 30 inmates and 11 hostages. More documentaries, this time looking at the different views and ways of retirement that people of different cultures enjoy or endure, soon followed.
However, following the creation of these documentaries, Cinda became very ill for several years and many people put the illness down to the incredible difficulties she faced during the filming of Attica. During her illness, Cinda Firestone Fox turned her attention to her love for reading and writing and on her recovery aged 35 she became much more heavily involved in theatre and Broadway. Initially she became heavily involved in children’s theatre while also counseling at the local school that she fought to keep open.
Having married Broadway director, Manny Fox, as a result of her love for and increasing involvement in Broadway, it was little surprise when she made the transition to writing screenplays and directing and editing Broadway musicals. Screenplays written by Cinda Firestone Fix include Madame, a tale of America’s first female black self made millionaire, as well as Te Queiro and Fox Hunt. Plays include Family Fortune, Questionable Quest, and Down to Earth with more almost certain to follow.
